Cuba strengthens restrictive measures to control Covid-19
Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, today insisted on restriction measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the eastern province of Guantánamo, a territory with a complex epidemiological situation.
In a control and advice visit to the district with more than eight thousand diagnosed with this disease in the last 15 days, the head of the Government called for an immediate solution to the main proposals of the people, with emphasis on the care system primary health.
According to the Granma newspaper, in Guantánamo there are still violations in the follow-up of patients undergoing home admission, lack of health personnel, deficiencies in the investigation to identify positive cases and other irregularities that threaten the strategy to confront the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus .
Dr. Yamila de Armas, an official of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), explained that there are problems in the seizures, in terms of equipment, diagnostic means, and difficulties in the system for taking samples of PCR in real time and communication of the results.
'All issues must be resolved in order to advance in the solution of the current situation,' she remarked.
The head of the Minsap, José Ángel Portal, said that the situation worsened due to the lack of risk perception, and called for greater organization and control, as well as taking experiences from other provinces to achieve 100 percent coverage in all industry levels.
According to the media, the demarcation creates conditions for intensive surveillance in the El Salvador polyclinic and the Baracoa Hospital, while isolation centers and capacities to guarantee care for serious and critical patients are increased.
The territory also awaits the arrival of doctors and nurses who fulfilled an internationalist mission, as well as specialists from other provinces, to reinforce assistance.
Similarly, Guantánamo advances in vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, with immunogens administered to convalescent Covid-19 and risk groups.
Minsap authorities reported 9,363 positive people this Wednesday, and 474 of them from the eastern territory.
Since May 23 and to date, Guantanamo identified 15 thousand 49 patients with this condition and the number of deaths rose to 113, with an incidence rate of 1,736.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days.
