Al-Asadi praises smoothness and security in Iraqi elections
Baghdad, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) Head of the National Sindh bloc Ahmed Al-Asadi on Monday praised the smoothness and security of the Sunday parliamentary elections in Iraq, in statements quoted by Al Mayadeen.
Al-Asadi attributed the smooth running of the elections to an effective deployment in more than 8,200 polling stations before, during and after the poll.
However, he continued, low voter turnout, whose disappointment emerged from political clientelism, unemployment and corruption, current characteristics of the country, is evident.
In any case, the head of the National Iraqi Sindh bloc, concluded that, according to reports, most of the winners belong to the big political groups.
The Iraqi Commission for Legislative Elections stated that the election results would be revealed in the coming hours.
Iraq's parliamentary election on Sunday is the fifth since the 2003 US-led invasion and occupation.
