Cuban tourism delegate in Canada shows optimism

Toronto, Canada, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The director of the Cuban tourism office in Toronto, Canada, Lesner Gomez, expressed optimism about the resumption of recreational operations to Cuba from Canada.

Gomez noted that he expects that Canadian trips to Cuba will be resumed next summer, and considered this type of activity will be even better for the winter season.

He recalled that in 2019, the number of tourists from Canada who spent their holidays in Cuba exceeded one million people.

Gomez mentioned Varadero (western Cuba), Jardines del Rey (center-north), Holguin (east), Cayo Santa Maria (center) and Cayo Largo del Sur (south-west) as the most popular destinations for Canadian holidaymakers.

He added that unfortunately in March 2020, the travel and leisure industry was affected by Covid-19, with the suspension of Canadian visits to the Caribbean, in particular Cuba.

He stressed that Cuba is a safe destination, and when Canada reopens its borders and resumes air operations, there will be an avalanche of Canadians to destinations in the Caribbean island.
