French lawyer makes inquiries into deaths with AstraZeneca vaccine

Paris, Apr 2 (Prensa Latina) French lawyer Etienne Boittin said on Friday that he is conducting an inquiry on behalf of the relatives of two people who died of thrombosis some few days after they received a dose of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine.

Speaking to France Bleu Occitanie radio station, the lawyer was willing to do everything to clarify what happened and did not rule out filing a lawsuit.

Boittin represents the relatives of a 24-year-old medical student who died in March in Nantes, 10 days after she had received a jab with the vaccine now called Vaxzevria, and of a 38-year-old social worker who died in Toulouse, two weeks after he had received the same vaccine.

According to Boittin, he is in an investigation phase and not an accusation, in order to have the medical-legal elements to establish whether there is a link between the deaths and the shots.

France suspended in March for several days the vaccination with AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, after several cases of thrombosis were reported in Europe by using the drug intended to neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, but resumed it before the approval by the European regulatory agency.

According to experts, the charge to be presented would be involuntary manslaughter, if sufficient evidence is found to do so.
