Health Minister Amelia Flores confirmed that a fourth vaccination post will open on Wednesday at the College of Physicians and Surgeons located in the capital to speed up the campaign and also move as soon as possible on new stage with people (70 years or older) and others suffering from risk diseases.

After public complaints about lack of control and violation of categories established in the first stage, the Health Ministry opened an online adult registry to generate day and time of the appointment as well as the vaccination post.

On Tuesday, the MSPAS authorities warned about general bed occupancy (over 50%) in nine Covid-19 hospitals, while another three exceeded such a figure.

The country is presently facing a third wave of the pandemic and although experts and health personnel asked Guatemalans to stay home during the Holy Week, a large majority chose to enjoy various tourist options with the risk of new outbreaks.
