Panamanian APATEL refuses to host travelers against their will

Panama, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) The Panamanian Hotels Association (APATEL) on Tuesday refused to host passengers against their will and under unacceptable conditions, in reference to regulations imposed by the Government for South American people.

In a statement posted on Twitter, APATEL reiterated its request to repeal the Executive Decree setting down that all South American travelers must bring a negative Covid-19 test 48 hours ahead of their arrival.

The regulation also covers that after their arrival, whether by air, sea or land, South American travelers must undergo a new compulsory check-up at their cost and if positive, they will be confined at a hospital hotel so as to be isolated and follow the corresponding treatment in accordance with Panama´s health protocols.

‘Under the pretext of isolating Panama from the new Covid-19 strain,’ local health authorities ‘have already isolated the country from 14 South American nations and imposed draconian and unnecessary restrictions on normal flow of passengers and sightseers.’
