Indian minister urges G20 to ensure equitable access to vaccines

New Delhi, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday urged G20 members to ensure equitable access and widespread distribution of vaccines, during a virtual meeting of that forum.

Sitharaman also said at the 2nd Meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors that India carries out an ambitious domestic vaccination program to fight Covid-19, All India Radio station reported.

The official emphasized that India became a key global manufacturer of vaccines and medical products, especially during the current pandemic.

The finance minister also stated that her country had vaccinated more than 87 million citizens under its Covid-19 vaccination drive and supplied more than 64 million doses to 84 countries, including 10 million doses provided as grants.
