Vatican City, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) Pope Francis on Saturday expressed his condolences to Queen Elizabeth II over the death of her husband, Prince Philip of Edinburg.

In a telegram signed by the secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy Pontiff conveyed his most heartfelt condolences, extensive to the members of the royal family.

Recalling Prince Philip’s devotion to his marriage and family, his distinguished public service and his commitment to the education and advancement of the future generations, His Holiness recommended him to Christ our Redeemer’s merciful love, the telegram said.

On you and all who suffer your loss in the secure hope of resurrection, the Holy Father invokes the Lord’s blessing of consolation and peace, it added.
