In statements to Prensa Latina, Wim Leysens, representative of the Coordinating Committee, stated that all 40 organizations of the movement were called to the central Atomium esplanade, in a new caravan convened by the Association of Cuban Residents in Belgium (CubaBel).
Cubanismo.be President Isabelle Vanbrabant also announced that the solidarity organization will also participate in the event, which is similar to one held on March 28, as part of a world day against the blockade.
CubaBel responded to the call made by Cuban-American Professor Carlos Lazo, a promoter of the Bridges of Love project, to develop a worldwide caravan against the unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington, which affect the Cuban family.
Lazo urged ‘men and women of good will, beyond creeds and ideologies’ to participate in the mobilization that he described as a galactic mega caravan, dedicated to demanding the end of the blockade, a policy implemented for more than 60 years and tightened during the Donald Trump administration (2017-2021) with more than 240 measures.
The Europe for Cuba channel also convened a world day against the blockade, scheduled from June 6 to 12, a few days before a new vote at United Nations General Assembly on June 23, on a draft resolution about the Necessity to end the blockade, a text similar to the ones overwhelmingly approved by that forum 28 times since 1992.
