Biden to meet NATO in June

Brussels, Apr 23 (Prensa Latina) The meeting between US President Joe Biden and leaders of the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will be on June 14, according to official sources.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made the announcement in a communiqué, and set Brussels as the venue for the meeting.

According to international media, the event, expected since Biden took office on January 20, is an opportunity for him to rebuild ties with the leaders of Canada and Europe, which were damaged by his predecessor, Donald Trump.

Issues such as the treatment of the tense relations with Russia and China, the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and the future of the 30-country military alliance are included in the agenda of the meeting.

The withdrawal of more than 9,500 soldiers from Afghanistan was highlighted after the US president set September 11 as a goal for the return of those soldiers.
