Sri Lanka and China to strengthen relations

Colombo, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Sri Lanka and China reiterated their desire to strengthen relations, after a meetings between the Chinese minister of Defense, General Wei Fenghe, and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

A statement by the Media Division of the Presidency said that relations were strengthened with the visit, according to The Island website.

Rajapaksa thanked China for the donation of 600,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines and personal protective equipment against Covid-19.

‘China lifted nearly 100 million rural residents out of absolute poverty 10 years before the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, regarding poverty alleviation. This is an outstanding achievement,’ he added.

A protocol on military assistance between both countries was also signed in this capital, according to News First website.
