‘With 64 votes in favor, the removal of the Attorney General of the Republic is approved’, confirmed the Legislative body, while the ruling party proposed Rodolfo Delgado in his place.

For years, the nominee headed the section for the fight against organized crime in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and was the defender of the director general of the National Civil Police, Mauricio Arriaza, in a trial to remove him from office.

According to the Assembly, there is a proven link between Melara and the right-wing Aliana Republicana Nacionalista (Arena) party, of which he was allegedly a private financier in 2014.
