A statement signed by PMU leader Falih al-Fayadh noted the Pentagon’s lack of commitment to the Iraqi Army and reiterated the view that the US forces are occupiers.
Al-Fayadh pointed out that the US soldiers are combat troops and their job consists, he denounced, of inciting opposition groups to support their presence on Iraqi soil and cause instability.
On April 7, the United States and Iraq agreed on the withdrawal of all Pentagon’s forces, but without setting a date, and subsequently, General Kenneth F. McKenzie, commander of the US Central Command, pointed out that Iraq actually prefers to maintain the US military presence in the country.
