UN insists on implementing peace process in Colombia

United Nations, May 12 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres spoke by phone with Colombian President Iván Duque and harped on implementing peace process in the South American nation, the UNSG spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said, when asked by the press about protests in Colombia.

The UN position is to demand that security forces show ‘restraint’ and allow people to demonstrate peacefully, Dujarric noted.

‘I have no doubt that the position that is expressed publicly is the same one that would be expressed in private,’ Dujarric stressed.

Meanwhile, Ivan Duque expressed his commitment to holding a national talk in response to protests.
