Cuba’s Hemingway International Yacht Club turns 29

Havana, May 18 (Prensa Latina) The Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, which was founded in difficult times, but maintains its mission of strengthening ties with the world, will celebrate its 29th anniversary on May 21, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

The press release from that institution added that it is a place where the bonds of friendship forged by the sea are strengthened, while preserving history and maritime traditions.

The communiqué stated that the global nautical community now recognizes the Club as a bastion in defense and rescue of maritime traditions in Cuba.

It specified that at present, the (Ernest) Hemingway Club has the honor of representing the most important cruising and fishing associations in the world, in addition to having the status of Member of Honor in dozens of yacht clubs and nautical institutions.

This status breaks Cuba’s isolation with that community, the text added.

Club Commodore Jose Miguel Diaz Escrich explained that his institution carries out multiple and diverse nautical, sports, recreational, academic and educational events that allow sharing with representatives of the nautical community from dozens of countries.
