Haitian organization favors summit amidst political crisis

Port-au-Prince, May 19 (Prensa Latina) The Force Louverturienne Reformiste called for a national summit capable of clarifying the current political disputes and prevent Haiti from sinking into chaos, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The platform based in Arcahie, known as the city of independence and located northwest of the capital, is very critical of the current situation and denounced that the country is subject to political interests with the almost total indifference of the international community.

While this is happening, the failure of both the Government and the opposition is evident, it said, which created a ‘republic of gangs’ that impoverishes and destroys people’s dreams of achieving political stability.

Force Louverturienne Reformiste (Reformist Louverturian Force) called for the emergence of a new kind of democratic trend, bringing new ideas to critical thinking, while betting on the urgent organization of a national summit between political actors, the diaspora and organized sectors in the country.

The summit should conclude with a political agreement to restore peace through the suspension of the activities of the Electoral Council and the voluntary but effective resignation of President Jovenel Moïse.

In addition, it proposes the formation of a transitional government, with a consensual prime minister, and the holding of trials against embezzlers of public funds, all after the national pact that promotes good governance and allows elections to be held.
