Serbia, Cuba analyze potentials for more cultural contacts

Belgrade, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Serbia and Cuba on Wednesday exchanged criteria on the possibilities of increasing cultural cooperation between institutions of the two countries.

The issue was addressed in two dialogues between Cuba’s Ambassador to Serbia Gustavo Trista del Todo with the acting director of the National Library of Serbia, Vladimir Pistalo, and the head of the Institute for Cultural Development Studies, Marko Krstic, both recently elected to their respective positions.

The potential for cooperation with the Jose Marti National Library and the eventual signing of a deal in this regard were at the center of the first talk, in which the host advanced the possibility of Cuban and Serbian publishers issuing works by authors from both countries, sponsored by those institutions.

In the talks with Krstic, a series of aspects of bilateral collaboration were discussed.

The also writer proposed the celebration of a meeting dedicated to cultural policy in Cuba, as well as the organization of an exhibition on the issue on October 20, Cuban Culture Day.

He also referred to this year’s commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to Serbian writer Ivo Andric with the convening of a new edition of the international analysis Contrapunto event.
