Health intervention continues successfully in Cuban province

Camagüey, Cuba, May 27 (Prensa Latina) Healthcare professionals in Camagüey are receiving from today the second dose of the Cuban vaccine candidate Abdala, as part of the health intervention in which students from the University of Medical Sciences are also participating.

In this province, with the third most populated city of Cuba, in a first phase over 38,000 people were vaccinated since the end of April up to date, in the 42 sites spread over a territory that has 13 municipalities.

Especially those who work in isolation centers and in red zones were the first to benefit from the drug, one of the two created by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in response to the pandemic.

In addition to medical professionals, workers in the tourism sector are also participating in the health intervention in the country, which aims at having vaccinated over 70 percent of its population by August, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

Camagüey, located 540 kilometers east of Havana, has a healthcare structure of three hospitals and several isolation centers for the care of Covid-19 patients, in addition to a Molecular Biology Laboratory.
