The National Health Commission stated that the 41-year-old man, who lives in the city of Zhenjiang, was hospitalized on April 28 after developing a fever and other symptoms.

After a month, specialists diagnosed him on May 28 as having the H10N3 avian influenza virus, but he is stable and ready to be discharged from hospital.

His close contacts were under exhaustive medical observation, and no other cases have been found, the Commission stated.

According to the Commission, H10N3 is a low pathogenic strain of the virus in poultry and the risk of spreading on a large scale among humans is ‘very low.’
