On his official Twitter account, the president said that the country is making history with the immunization process in risk groups and territories with Phase 3 vaccine candidates Soberana 02 and Abdala, which will also benefit Latin America.

On Tuesday, also on this platform, Arce greeted Diaz-Canel and highlighted the vaccination of over one million people with the first shot of these Cuban vaccine candidates, nearly 600,000 with the second one and 142,000 with the third dose.

‘Good news for the Great Homeland,’ the Bolivian head of State tweeted.

Cuba has five vaccine candidates against the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2.

If their effectivenes is proven and the regulating organization approves them, Cuba will be able to achieve the first Covid-19 vaccines devised and produced in Latin America.

According to scientists and experts, 70 percent of the Cuban population will have been immunized against this disease by August this year, as part of a vaccination strategy in population groups.
