Russia reiterated complaint against US blockade of Cuba

Moscow, Jun 3 (Prensa Latina) Russian deputies and activists of solidarity movements with Cuba on Thursday expressed their rejection of the US blockade against the Caribbean nation and urged to join the international day in rejection of such a policy.

At the Europe for Cuba channel, broadcast on YouTube, participants highlighted the significance of making visible the impact of restrictions imposed by Washington on Cuba and the resistance of the Cuban people.

Presented by Lena Loshkina, head of the Russian Committee for the Elimination of the US Blockade against Cuba, the over 4-hour program called to participate in the world announcement in support of Cuba from June 6 to 13 were reiterated.

In video messages, Denis Parfyonov, Alexei Kurinni and Vera Ganzia, deputies of the State Duma, condemned the US attempts to subdue Cuba and underlined the country’s right to self-determination and sovereignty.

The representatives of the Communist Party in the Lower House of the Russian Parliament repudiated the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsors of terrorism, a measure that, they considered, constitutes another strategy for the United States to punish its independent policy.

The three deputies also called on international parliaments, governments and organizations to reject the US sanctions and to demand their leaders to vote against such a policy on June 23 at the UN General Assembly.

The Russian senators stressed that in modern conditions, as the entire world is focused on fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the US blockade against Cuba ‘goes against the efforts of the world community.’
