Authorized teaching centers resume face-to-face classes in Ecuador

Quito, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) About 1,301 educational centers in Ecuador on Monday resume face-to-face classes, after receiving authorization from the national Emergency Operations Committee, while the country maintains restrictions due to Covid-19.

In order to reopen classrooms, the educational centers presented a biosafety plan in September 2020 that includes measures aimed at preventing contagions by the disease, which accumulates 432,353 cases in the country.

According to statistics offered by Education Minister Maria Brown, Ecuador has 4.4 million students, and the progressive reintegration of around 150,000 students in schools in the country’s all regions is expected of as today.

Data from the Ministry of Education indicate that in the context of the pandemic, more than 90,000 students stopped attending classes, especially in rural areas, where Internet access is less than 30 percent.

The return to classrooms will be voluntarily and about the issue, the minister was emphatic in saying that complaints can be made in case that compulsory school attendance is required.
