US blockade against Cuba condemned in South Africa

Pretoria, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) Michael Lapsley, a prominent South African priest and anti-apartheid fighter, highlighted the work of Cuba's Henry Reeve internationalist medical brigade, and condemned the United States-imposed blockade against Cuba.

Lapsley, president of the Society of Friends of Cuba (FOCUS) in Cape Town, offered an interview to Prensa Latina telling how all the members of the organization he leads are committed to opposing the illegal and immoral blockade.

Lapsley, who is the former vice president of the South African Council of Churches, stressed in reference to the worldwide fight against the Covid-19 pandemic that the Cuban response to this global challenge has demonstrated to the entire world the love of Cubans for the human family.

‘We are proud that our government has endorsed the nomination of the Henry Reeve Brigade to receive the Nobel Peace Prize,’ he said.

In his words: ‘We South Africans are humble and eternally grateful that Cubans were once again willing to risk their own life to save ours.’
