Argentina suspends and reduces flights to Europe

Buenos Aires, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) Argentina's government on Tuesday suspended and reduced several flights to and from destinations such as Turkey and countries on the African continent and announced to continue with the policy of minimum frequencies on flights to Europe.

Through Administrative Decision 589/2021, the Executive unfolded the cancellation of several trips in order to ‘reduce international traffic and prevent the arrival in Argentina of new strains of coronavirus circulating in other countries,’ the text refers, which emphasizes the Beta variants originating in South Africa and Delta in India.

The regulation is signed by the Chief of Cabinet Santiago Cafiero, the Minister of the Interior Eduardo de Pedro, and the Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti, and determines that the national healthcare authority considers necessary to extend and expand the preventive measures adopted.

The decisions related to authorizations and permits related to air transport operations of passengers on direct flights to and from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Turkey and other countries of the African continent will be extended until June 25.

To this are added those originating in Brazil, Chile or India, due to the new coronavirus lineages.

The government recalled that the entry of foreigners into the national territory is prohibited, except in cases specifically authorized by the National Direction of Migration for reasons such as family reunification, health or humanitarian reasons.

Likewise, the only access routes are Ezeiza Airport, San Fernando Airport, Jorge Newbery Airport and the Buquebus terminal at the port of Buenos Aires, since the land borders are closed.

To enter the country, all citizens must complete an electronic affidavit 48 hours prior to boarding and have a total of three tests for SARS-CoV-2.

The first one is prior to entry, then a new test will be performed and another one after seven days. Authorized foreign nationals must also attach Covid-19 medical insurance.
