Cuban President insists on strenghtening protocols facing Covid-19

Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, after a debate yesterday with local experts, emphasized on the need to stregnhten the care protocols for Covid-19 patients in serious and critical conditions.

In a message published via his Twitter account, the leader acknowledged the effort of specialists to update the way of managing the increase in cases with unfavorable diagnosis.

‘Once again, Cuba updates its protocol regarding the care of Covid-19 patients in serious and critical conditions. Prestigious experts and intensivists evaluated it. We recognized the abnegation with which our healthcare personnel have worked for over a year’, he wrote.

With a scientific community completely focused on finding solutions, the nation achieved the recovery of 94.7 percent of Covid-19 patients, but each death hurts and forces to improve the procedures, he pointed out.

‘The effort of our doctors deserves to be supported with mre discipline’, he added.

The last Tuesday, in a meeting with scientists and specialists working to control the pandemic it was reported that the island will continue in the coming weeks with a tendency to the increase of confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2.

In that regard, the dean of the school of IT and Mathematics of the University of Havana, Raul Guinovart, stated that the increase will happen in almost all the territories of the island, even in those that seemed to have had the situation under control.

By updating the forecast models about the behavior of the disease, Guinovart pointed out that the situation seems more favorable for the capital city, particularly in those municipalities where the sanitary intervention with the Cuban vaccine candidates is further advanced.
