Cuba shows no decrease in number of Covid-19 cases

Havana, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Thursday reported 1,418 new Covid-19 cases, and the number of contagions has not decreased over the past few days, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), said at his daily press briefing on television.

The expert noted that the total number of positive cases since March 2020 has increased to 163,428.

He explained that most positive cases are a result of local infections with 1,385 patients, while 33 cases were imported.

Dr. Duran lamented the deaths of five people, so the total death toll rose to 1,123.

¨In June alone, 20,092 patients were diagnosed with Covid-19, and 158 deaths were reported, so an average of 1,255 cases a day and 10 deaths, the highest number in more than 14 months since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country,¨ Dr. Duran underlined.
