We have two people confirmed shot in random acts, Surprise Police Sgt. Greg Welch told CNN. He said there were multiple shooting locations but could not provide an exact number.

One of the victims is hospitalized in critical condition, according to authorities, and a suspect got busted during a traffic control in the area.

Mass shootings in the United States have increased in recent months and so far this year there have been about 260 shootings, more than double the 94 occurred during the same period in 2020, according to the ¨Gun Violence Archive¨ NGO.

Among the most recent incidents is the one occurred in California just two weeks ago, as a public transportation worker shot down eight people and then committed suicide at his home, where he kept 12 firearms and 25,000 ammunition.

Incidents of such are currently fueling the debate on the need for more effective gun sale control in the United States.
