The president’s press secretary, Dmitri Peskov, announced an important and significant speech by the head of State, and pointed out that Putin will participate in person in the event.

Participants in the congress will approve the list of candidates who will represent United Russia in the elections on September 19, as well as the main guidelines of the electoral program.

‘This is the most important event of the party prior the September elections,’ the secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party, Andrei Turchak, said recently.

According to the country’s law, all parties must hold pre-electoral congresses and reconcile the list of candidates for the State Duma within 25 days after the official publication of the presidential decree announcing the elections.

It also establishes that these congresses must be held face-to-face. The Russian president signed on Thursday the decree that calls for elections on September 19, 2021.
