China discovers a reserve of one billion tons of oil

Beijing, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) China's state oil company discovered a reserve of one billion tons of crude oil and gas in the Uyghur autonomous region of Xinjiang, located in the northeast, press reports detailed today.

According to the information, the deposit is in the Fuman field of the Tarim basin and is the largest found there so far.

This area is one of the most complex for the oil industry since extractions are carried out at depths of up to 8,000 meters.

The reserve will strengthen the energy security of China, as well as the economy of the surrounding regions.
