African group calls for an end to US blockade against Cuba

United Nations, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) On behalf of the African Group, Eritrea called on Wednesday on the United Nations General Assembly to end the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government on Cuba.

Such a demand to end the inhumane blockade against Cuba has been shared by most countries for many years, the African state said.

It also expressed that the group will continue to reaffirm its full support for the resolution submitted to the world organization and entitled ‘Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba’.

The African Union, a regional organization made up of 55 countries, has supported all draft resolutions presented at the United Nations to demanding the lifting of the blockade against Cuba, which aims to make the people of that sovereign nation to surrender by hunger and needs.

The Cuban government presented for the twenty-ninth time at the United Nations General Assembly the aforementioned draft resolution, which was approved by 184 votes in favor, two against and three abstentions.
