President of Cuba highlights ALBA-TCP’s commitment to unity

Havana, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today highlighted the commitment of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) with integration and regional unity.

In his Twitter account, the president affirmed the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of that integration mechanism, held the eve, renewed those precepts in the face of threats to stability in the area.

During the meeting, held in Caracas, the high authorities of the bloc ratified the will of genuine integrarion of Latin America and the Caribbean, which allows to face claims of domination of the United States.

The final declaration of the meeting also welcomed the return of constitutional order in Bolivia, and the efforts of President Luis Arce, both domestically and internationally, to move towards the economic reactivation of the South American country.

He also reiterated the recognition of the legitimate authorities of Venezuela and Nicaragua, and rejected the unilateral coercive measures of Washington against countries that chose an independent development model.

He also repudiated the discredited campaign promoted by the US government against Cuban medical cooperation, amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The integration mechanism also recognized the right of the Caribbean countries to receive fair, special and differential treatment, and supported their claims for reparations after centuries of slavery and racism perpetrated by various states in Europe and North America.

ALBA-TCP also agreed to promote the development of the ALBA-Petro Caribe complementary economic zone as a model for productive and technological development.
