In his dual capacity as SADC Head and President of Mozambique Filipe Nyuse, argued in favor of safeguarding nations´ sovereignty and cultural and socio-economic rights; therefore, he stated, ‘we will not rest until we obtain the final victory: peace and progress in every corner of our region.’

Even though the forum reviewed in a particular way the present situation in the Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, Heads of State and Government remarked the existence of separate sources of violence over the African continent due to terrorism and violent extremism.

According to SADC Executive Secretary Stergomena Lawrence, terrorism continues to be a serious threat in the region, so this requires ‘our urgent, concrete and decisive attention.’
