Iran demands lifting of sanctions for nuclear surveillance

Tehran, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) Iran on Monday has demanded the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States so surveillance at its nuclear facilities can continue.

Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament, assured that Washington has no right to make any demand on the issue, after it withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal.

During an interview with Al-Masirah TV channel, Meshkini referred to statements by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, which contain elements of psychological warfare in order to score points.

According to the lawmaker, the red line in the JCPOA consists of lifting all anti-Iranian sanctions and after they are verified, Tehran will comply with its nuclear obligations.

The Iranian lawmaker alluded to a closed circuit television system through which the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) controls the handling of fissile materials in the facilities of the Islamic Republic.

Earlier, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, announced that the quarterly deadline for maintaining these checks has ended and from now on, the videos will not be provided to the IAEA.
