Cuba describes US human trafficking accusations as dishonest

Havana, Jul 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Thursday described the accusations by the United States Government as dishonest, pointing out to Cuba's medical collaboration programs as supposed human trafficking.

The Cuban Foreign Minister strongly rejected the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken´s statement on this matter, and said they are offending the Cuban health personnel, while adding that current US administration shamelessly repeats the lies orchestrated during the performance of its predecessors, led by Donald Trump (2017-2021) who used this issue (human trafficking) to justify his sanctions and attacks on Cuba.

Such a performance is ‘a sign of political corruption’ in the United States, he pointed out.

US State Secretary on Thursday blamed Cuba for human trafficking activities, since according to the US Report on Human Trafficking for 2021, Cuba´s medical collaboration programs to aid other nations are rolled out under supposed exploitation conditions.

Cuban authorities have denounced many times about politicization the White House is currently making on this matter, as well as the unilateral nature of these reports that are no longer backed up by competent international bodies.

Cuba claimed these false accusations are meant to damage the country’s health cooperation, which not only accounts for an income source for the country, but also saves millions of lives worldwide.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, 57 Henry Reeves medical brigades set off Cuba to contribute to fighting the virus in 40 countries and territories, based on the aid requested by those governments.

Such an effort was acknowledged by the international community, which is reflected in manifold proposals for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
