Ethiopian authorities ask for int’l condemnation of crimes in Tigray

Addis Ababa, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopian authorities on Wednesday asked for the United Nations and the international community to condemn the recent terrorist acts in Tigray, committed, according to what they declare, by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) of the homonymous regional state.

A communique from the provisional executive of the region warns about ‘the worrying situation of insecurity’ existing in the northern territory, after the ceasefire unilaterally decreed by the federal Government.

Citizens, especially those who support the life-saving mission of the interim administration, are attacked and massacred by members of the Front and armed elements that refer to themselves as Tigray Defense Force, the text ensures.

The irresponsibility and recklessness by the organization and its allies are causing an exodus of thousands of people fleeing from all Tigray regions, included Mekele, its capital, fearing for their lives and that of their families, the document states.

We call on the UN, other aid agencies and the international community to speak out and condemn the evil and inhuman acts of horror the TPLF is carrying out after the withdrawal of the Federal Security, the statement reiterates.
