Peskov told the Russian media that both the president, Vladimir Putin, and other authorities in the country, have repeatedly indicated that Moscow will apply the appropriate measures in these cases.
‘The (border) guards will carry out the actions that are directed to them in case of violation of the state border. Of course, all diplomatic instruments will also be used,’ he clarified.
On the possibility of avoiding a conflict, Peskov stated that ‘it exists, it is simply not necessary to violate the state border of Russia and do it in a provocative way,’ he stressed.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on June 23rd that the Black Sea Fleet, together with the Border Service of the Russian Federation, stopped the violation of its maritime legal space by the British Navy destroyer near Cape Fiolent.
Russia considered the actions a serious violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and asked the British side to investigate the actions of the ship’s crew.
The events were denied by London, despite the fact that there are videos, photos and reliable information about the event.
