According to the communique, the Spanish Navy’s patrol vessel Rayo will participate in the Sea Breeze 2021 multinational drills, of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United States.

Forces from Ukraine, the United States, Moldova and Georgia conducted the joint military drills last week in the Ukrainian region of Kherson, near Crimea.

In recent days, President Vladimir Putin denounced the NATO’s expansion to the east and pointed out that the approach of its infrastructure towards the Russian borders ‘is of practical importance’ for Moscow.

The president warned about the threat it poses to Russia if Ukraine becomes a member of the Atlantic Alliance and the alliance’s missile defense systems are deployed in its territory.
