Argentine media highlight advances in Cuban vaccines

Buenos Aires, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Argentine media today highlighted the authorization of the emergency use of the Cuban vaccine against Covid19 Abdala, the first developed in Latin America to be approved.

Newspaper Página 12 reviewed in a note the good news arrival from the Caribbean island, which announced this Friday that after a rigorous process of evaluation of the file and having carried out the inspections of the plants involved, the emergency use of the drug Abdala was authorized.

That media said Cuba hopes to have 70 percent of its population vaccinated in August and 100 percent before the end of the year and would become the first country in the world to immunize its entire population with its own vaccines.

For its part, local Telam news agency also echoed Abdala’s authorization, whose effectiveness is 92.28 percent according to local studies, it is already being administered to Cubans and was exported to Venezuela where it will also be produced. The report also added that several nations in the region showed interest in acquiring it, including Argentina.
