Information security in new Putin-Biden dialogue

Moscow, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Joseph Biden, continued by phone the dialogue on information security and the fight against cybercrime that began in Geneva on June 16.

On the subject, Putin stressed that during the last month Moscow authorities did not receive requests from the US side to jointly repress criminal demonstrations in computer spaces, said a note from the Kremlin.

The Russian president referred to recent reports of a series of cyber attacks, allegedly carried out from the territory of the Eurasian nation, according to the statement.

In the conversation, Putin pointed out that the scale and severity of the challenges in this area require that interaction between Russia and the United States be permanent, professional and not politicized.

He also stated that communication between the parties must be carried out using specialized channels for the exchange of information between state structures, within the framework of bilateral legal mechanisms, as well as in compliance with the provisions of international law.

The press service of the Russian Presidency noted that Putin and Biden stressed the need for substantive and constructive cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and to continue such contacts.

According to the White House statement, the US president urged Moscow to take action against criminals operating on the internet and reiterated his commitment to developing greater cooperation to address these challenges.

The Kremlin reported that the heads of state also addressed the humanitarian situation in Syria. Both sides gave a positive assessment of the coordination of efforts between Moscow and Washington on this issue, including in the UN Security Council.

Putin expressed his condolences for the tragic consequences of the collapse of a residential building in Surfside, Florida, which caused many victims.
