‘The presence of Iranian vessels in the Atlantic Ocean is a response to US claims that Iran would never be able to have a presence in the Atlantic.’

‘Although the Americans are about 12 miles from Iranian waters, they fear the naval fleet of the Islamic Republic that sails 5,000 miles from its shores,’ Khanzadi said.

The Makran vessel contains 110,000 tons of fuel and can remain in operation for 10 years without refueling, he said.

It is also equipped with an advanced water desalination system and thus can provide that vital long-term service to the naval fleet.
