In a press release, the organizations recalled the policy initiated by former President Barack Obama to promote better relations between the two nations.

They expressed their surprise at Biden’s statements, which are the return to actions that his own government condemned in 2014, when he was the US vice president, they said.

The United States is the main responsible for the enormous shortages of food and medicine in Cuba, due to the genocidal blockade, whose purpose is precisely to drive the Cuban people to despair, the statement said.

Threatening to deny us as citizens and legal residents of the United States the possibility to help our families in Cuba with remittances at this precise time of scarcity and a global pandemic is unheard of and immoral, the organizations emphasized.
