Cuba reports second day with more than 8,000 Covid-19 cases

Havana, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Monday reported that for the second consecutive day, the country reported more than 8,000 Covid-19 cases, showing a high contagion rate.

Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, reported 8,184 Covid-19 cases, so the total number of contagions since March 2020 has risen to 341,152.

In his regular press briefing on television, Dr. Duran added that 42,338 active patients are in hospitals nationwide, including 41,949 who are clinically stable, 389 who are being treated in intensive care units, 225 who are seriously ill and 164 who are in a critical condition.

Cuba’s chief epidemiologist commented that 18,030 children have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the last 15 days, with an average of 1,202 cases per day. More than 1,500 contagions were reported during the last two days.

The specialist informed that 7,927 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.

Dr. Duran pointed out that 66 people died on Sunday due to complications related to the disease, so the death toll increased to 2,417.
