On his official Twitter account, the foreign minister wrote: ‘July 26 taught us not to be daunted by setbacks and to grow with ingenuity and determination.’

‘Today we face the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade that uses the Covid-19 pandemic as an ally, in its unconventional war against Cuba,’ he noted, and reiterated that Cuba is a sovereign territory.

The historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, was at the forefront of the 1953 assault on the Guillermon Moncada barracks in the city of Santiago de Cuba, and the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrison in Bayamo, both in eastern Cuba.

On this day, the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, congratulated all citizens on the National Rebellion Day and reiterated his call for peace, work and unity.

The Cuban people celebrate the anniversary under the slogan My Moncada is today, a call to defend the socialist project from home, work or social networks in the era of the US soft coup against the Caribbean nation.
