According to the president, the number of deaths in one day in the territory at the peak of the epidemic reached 33, while in the last days the average is five.

In a message on his Twitter account, Diaz-Canel acknowledged that ‘the province is working hard to reduce this terrible indicator.’

In two consecutive weeks, daily cases fell in the province, with 2,500 fewer patients from week to week, he said.

A similar behavior showed the active cases during the last five days, he added in another message.

‘Vaccination in Matanzas continues advancing. The mass campaign has already begun in all its municipalities. 49.6% of the people over 19 years of age from Matanzas received all three doses. In September, with the exception of children, the entire population will be vaccinated,’ the head of state explained.
