Russian servicemen to participate in parade for Mexico’s Independence

Moscow, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) The honor guard battalion of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, belonging to Russia's Western Military Region, will participate in the parade for Mexico's Independence Day, as per media outlets.

‘The (Russian) honor guard will win the hearts of Mexicans,’ said the statement that announced the attendance of 30 Russian soldiers to the military parade for the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence, to be held on September 16th in Mexico City.

This will be the tenth time Russian servicemen have participated in Mexican military parades, according to the TASS news agency.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, confirmed at the end of April the participation of the Russian Federation in the commemoration events during a meeting he held in Moscow with his Mexican counterpart Marcelo Ebrard.

‘We received the invitation to participate in the festive events in Mexico in September of this year, dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Independence and the 700th anniversary of Mexico Tenochtitlan, we are working on the forms of our participation, we will contribute what we can to these events,’ Lavrov explained.
