German police ban demonstrations against anti-Covid-19 measures

Berlin, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The German Police on Monday prohibited the holding of three demonstrations against the Government's measures to contain the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, after violent incidents recorded over the weekend.

Convened by the Querdenken extremist group (Lateral Thinkers), thousands of citizens took the streets in Berlin on Sunday to speak out against the movement’s restrictions and the Covid-19 vaccination.

German officials reported clashes with participants in the protests, in which 600 people were arrested and 10 officers were injured.

Two marches were expected this Monday near Tiergarten Park and a third in Potsdam Square, which would bring together more than 11,000 individuals.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, Germany has so far reported 3,772,109 Covid-19 contagions and 91,660 deaths due to complications related to the disease.
