In a statement, the solidarity group also asked to reinforce security at the embassy and protect Cuban diplomats and staff´s lives due to recent attacks on the embassy, in addition to continuing harassment on social networks.

Most recent incident happened past Saturday as a seven-vehicle caravan went past in front of the Cuban embassy about 10 times honking horns – something too rare in here – and individuals from inside the vehicles yelling four-letter words at the embassy and diplomats.

On July 27, when the Cuban embassy officially condemned the attack in Paris, several people responded that ‘Cuba would deserve the same attack here in Guatemala’.

‘We call Guatemalan population to show solidarity with brave and dignified Cuban people and diplomatic delegation. It is critical to condemn this attack by different media and possible democratic forms,’ the solidarity group said.

‘Cuba and Guatemala are brotherly peoples and we must fight terrorism and hatred firmly and with dignity, especially when the US strategy is to tighten its genocidal blockade and media hype with the complicity of a servile opposition.’
