Cuban right to defend sovereignty highlighted in Seychelles

Victoria, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) Main Seychelles newspaper Nation published today an article on Cuba's right to defend its sovereignty and integrity in the context of the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

Cuba is a small developing island state facing the longest and most incomprehensible system of unilateral restrictive measures applied against any country, causing serious damage to the country’s economy, the text highlights in relation to the more than 60 year-old US siege.

Added to this are the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, whose effects were deliberately and opportunistically used by the United States government to reinforce sanctions for political purposes and cause hardship to the Cuban people.

The article released this Friday denounces that the Caribbean island is the victim of an operation planned from cyberspace accounts and networks, financed by Washington to upload videos and fake news, as well as terrorist actions against the people and national institutions.

It also explains that small groups of antisocial people, who do not represent the interest of the majority of Cubans residing in the country, are encouraged to create social disorder and a false image of the real Cuban people. This was repeatedly denounced with evidence by authorities and by other nations.

In another part it is denounced that the United States government has a high responsibility for the anti-Cuban events that occurred last July, not only because they are the result of years of economic warfare, but also because they are holding a policy of maximum pressure with more than 243 measures in addition to the blockade.
