DPRK reiterates support for Cuban Revolution

Pyonyang, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday reiterated its support for the Cuban government and people in the light of the recent aggression to destabilize the Caribbean island.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry warned that in the midst of the struggle by the Revolutionary Government of Cuba to preserve the sociopolitical stability of the country, provocations and maneuvers of intervention in its internal affairs by foreign forces are becoming more open.

After unidentified persons threw Molotov cocktails at the Cuban Embassy in France on July 26, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU) issued a statement on July 29 in support of Cuban counterrevolutionaries who organized anti-government demonstrations in Cuba, the ministry said.

The terrorist act against Cuba’s diplomatic mission in Paris is a flagrant violation of international law; and the fact that a high-ranking EU politician spoke in favor of the anti-government demonstrators constitutes an act of interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State and cannot be tolerated, the press release added.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry pointed out that the recent disturbances in Cuba were the product of US backdoor manipulations to overthrow the political system in the country.

Cuba is advancing with the flag of socialism raised high in the Western Hemisphere, the Ministry stressed.

We are certain that the heroic Cuban people, firmly united around the Communist Party, will triumph in the struggle against the incessant maneuvers of US intervention, while maintaining the defense of socialism and the achievements of the Revolution, the Foreign Ministry concluded.
