‘It is clear that the intensity of efforts of all kinds to discredit this election will definitely be unprecedented. But I am sure we will get past it,’ Panfilova told Sputnik news agency.

The official assured that the electoral system has great experience in this regard and warned that the campaign against it began long before September.

She commented that several Western countries designated Russia as their enemy and rival from which their main threats come.

‘They continue to pressure us with sanctions, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is approaching our borders and Russia is accused of everything bad that is happening in the world,’ the head of the CEC warned.

However, she explained that the biggest ‘fault’ of this country is its defense of the right to promote an independent policy, based on its national interests.

Russia will hold elections to the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament) on September 19, when representatives who will hold its 450 seats will be elected. Regional elections are scheduled for the same day.
